01
Structure
We establish what suitable investors need to see and help the client meet those requirements. For a fund, this may involve its domicile, terms and track record. For a project or platform, it may mean designing the capital structure and deciding which risks should be retained, transferred or insured.
02
Position
We prepare the investment case, the impact analysis, the investor materials, the financial model and the data room to the standard an institutional investment committee applies, before the first conversation. That extends to everything an investor will see, including the firm’s own website and its investor reporting.
03
Mobilise
We identify suitable investors, lead the outreach and manage diligence, negotiation and documentation through to close. Our role does not end with an introduction.
Relationships
We think in fund cycles.
We take on clients we expect to work with across successive raises.
We have known some clients for more than a decade and are working with several on a second fund. We have worked solely on this for two decades and do not intend to do anything else for the next two.
How we are built
Senior attention on every mandate.
Each mandate is led personally from first conversation to close, supported by senior advisers and specialist legal, tax and structuring counsel as each transaction requires.
Retainers, placement fees, separate regulatory providers, duplicated investor work and management time all contribute to the cost of raising capital. Those costs do not disappear. They sit somewhere in the economics of the fund or the company, and they are part of the cost of the capital. We integrate that process instead of adding another intermediary layer.
Principles
What guides our work.
Purpose
Conviction Capital exists to move capital into the climate transition. We have helped clients mobilise over $2bn of capital. We work towards long-term environmental and financial results rather than the quickest transaction.
Selection
We work with teams and strategies we believe in, where our involvement can make a substantial environmental and economic difference.
Alignment
Conviction Capital co-founded a climate acquisition company and raised €190m for its listing on Euronext Amsterdam, and invested its own capital alongside the investors it brought into the transaction. Our interests sit with our clients’ over the life of a fund rather than at its close. We commit where we believe in the team and the strategy. Hence the name.
